All other trails at the Highlands Nature Sanctuary are open year-round.
The Highlands Nature Sanctuary, the oldest and largest preserve in the Arc of Appalachia system, spans over 3,000 acres and is home to the magnificent Rocky Fork Gorge. With 100-foot-high dolomite canyon walls, ancient white cedars, springs, stone arches, and a wealth of botanical diversity, this sanctuary is a must-see, especially for its spectacular spring wildflower displays.
Please Note:
Parking lots are not winter-maintained.
Trails can be unsafe during periods of heavy rain, ice, and snow.
Appalachian Forest Museum is located at 7660 Cave Road, Bainbridge, OH 45612.
