America’s 250th birthday will be celebrated in 2026. As part of that milestone, the Hillsboro-based Music Makers Museum has partnered with the America 250-Ohio Commission to serve as an official stop on its recently launched Ohio Creativity Trail.

The trail includes 108 sites across Ohio and showcases Ohio’s past and present musicians, writers, artists, and other creative professionals.

It is the second of six America-250 Ohio’s signature Trails & Tales program.

For more details about the trails, visit the organization’s website.

The Music Makers Museum is located east of Hillsboro on State Route 50. It chronicles the development of the recording industry and celebrates how Americans have listened to recorded music from Thomas Edison’s hand-cranked phonographs through the present-day iPod.

The museum spotlights early Ohio influences to blues, jazz, country, funk, rock, and other music genres. Visitors can see more than 50 playable phonographs and view the exhibition “How’s We Get Here?” among other experiences.
