Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Strangers Helping Strangers Celebration Event on Saturday, March 22, and thank you to the businesses and organizations who supported us by donating gift cards and gift baskets, and the restaurants that donated pizzas.
We raised $815, and the winner of the $500 Rural King gift card donated it back to SHS, so we will offer that again at an upcoming event!
Thank you to All In Ohio partner and co-editor, and SHS board member, Samantha Rayburn for her awesome performance of contemporary Christian, gospel, and country songs. Samantha has Samantha Rayburn Music Ministry and performs at churches, venues, and events across Ohio.
100 percent of the proceeds will go to helping grow Strangers Helping Strangers, an incorporated nonprofit focused on disaster response and preparation, and community projects to help people in need, in southern Ohio and surrounding states!
We are focused on gathering supplies to have on hand for when disaster strikes in our region, and building tiny houses for temporary shelters. We got our start helping in western North Carolina, and it’s there we saw that independent nonprofits new and established were doing the most work with the recovery. It’s important that we are as prepared as possible for disasters here in Highland County and surrounding counties, and that is our purpose!
Strangers Helping Strangers also coordinates community projects to help people in need. We started with our Christmas toy drive and will have an Easter dinner for the homeless, where we will go to them, on April 20. We will post more details on this page in upcoming days, and we welcome cash donations to buy food for the dinner, and we also welcome food donations from restaurants and organizations.
In the upcoming weeks, we will also announce more community projects that will be held throughout the year. We welcome volunteers to be part of our organizations, and businesses and organizations who wants to team with us for disaster response and community projects.

Strangers Helping Strangers has a group of dedicated board members passionate about the mission. We were strangers when we first started, but we’ve grown into friends and colleagues and are committed to consistently growing the organization and having a positive impact in Highland County and southern Ohio.
