The Arc of Appalachia in southern Ohio has announced dates for January volunteer workday opportunities.
The organization’s Annual Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) Monitoring includes four scheduled workdays. You can join in for as many as you want, and no experience is necessary.
January 7th, Honeycomb Rocks – Hocking County
January 9th, Ash Cave Eastern Reserve – Hocking County
January 14th, Red Rock Bluffs – Hocking County
January 16th, Sylvan Deep – Jackson County
Come help the organization monitor and track the HWA infestation. The destructive HWA is an invasive, non-native insect that sucks the sap from Hemlock trees. This important task helps us manage and control the HWA infestations.
The work takes participants off trail, so they will have the opportunity to see parts of these preserves that you normally don’t get to see.
Workdays will be approximately 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
